The Orient Mako collection is a whole lot to unpack — quite literally. However, it’s one quality dive watch that will surely win you at first glance. For such an affordable watch, it has all the basic functions of a dive watch. Moreover, its automatic movement makes for such a compelling case.
What is the difference between Orient Mako2 and Ray2?
The bezels on both watches combine a black and white design, with the numbering on the Ray II slightly more prominent and bolder than the Mako II. Again, this difference in style means the Ray II looks like a quintessential dive watch, whereas the Mako II tips towards a sportier feel.

The Mako, on the other hand, has a bit of a more fancy and stylized design with numbers instead of shapes or symbols at the 6, 9 and 12 o’clock time slots. The Mako’s hour markers around the watch face are also thinner when compared with the Ray.
When did the Orient Mako USA come out?
I originally reviewed the Orient Mako back in 2009 here, and since then the company has come out with some new versions, and for the American market there is also the Orient Mako USA (reviewed here). Currently, I don’t know if the new caliber F6922 will make it into the upgraded Mako USA watch, but I imagine that it will eventually.
